An intimate experience of connection with nature within the shady and labyrinth wood of the lost and characteristic Apennine village of Pietragavina, in Oltrepò Pavese. PietraGavina is a small and characteristic village of the municipality of Varzi. The story traces back to 1164, when Federico Barbarossa handed him over to Malaspina. Once a holiday resort and mountain spa, it is now known above all by those who in autumn go to collect chestnuts, the best in the area.
The picturesque village is perched right next to the wood, 860 meters near the homonymous pass that connects Val Staffora to Val Tidone.
The wood mosaic inside which we will immerse ourselves in order to do the activities of forest bathing is rich and varied; we will cross the generous chestnut grove, source of food and timber for the ancient populations, mixed woods of latifoglie and the aromatic pine forest planted artificially in 1923.
Between one activity and the other we can discover some winter blooms such as the wild elleboro and will not miss along the picturesque route from which you can observe calanchi, cultivated fields and the castles of Pietragavina and Zavattarello.
