We will guide you to the discovery of the Ronco Forest, in an itinerary that will allow us to admire Piacenza from above and to see in the distance the Alps. La Val Riglio is one of the minor valleys in the province of Piacenza, a hilly area. The name  derives from the Riglio stream that flows along a path of almost 50 kilometers. The Riglio, in its descent from Mount Obolo and arrives to Pianura Padana, passes through some historic villages of the Colli Piacentini. Its borders interlink with Val Chero and Val Vezzeno to the east and with Val Nure to the west.  Val Riglio is a valley  Unpopulated wild, known for its beautiful landscapes, castles and fortresses. In the Middle Ages it was the scene of a battle between Guelphs and Ghibellines linked to the Visconti family and its history survives in the toponomastic. The small village of Ronco in fact derives its name from the Latin vulgar "runcare"  to deforest, to witness the dense forests that once covered its gentle hills. A further treasure of Val Riglio is the silent giant, a large oak in the register of trees protected by the region, untouchable both for the exposed part and regarding the roots. The area of respect  identified is at least equal to the width of the foliage, suitable to ensure their good health.
